And to correct all the “psych” people, it was sike also!! I remember writing both and seeing both by people all over!
Anywho, it doesn’t really matter as long as it made people laugh, bring back warm memories, etc.
Awesome site thanks for the memories!!
@Neb Girl – Thanks! I agree. I remember seeing it both ways. Besides, If I changed it to “psych” it wouldn’t match the cartoon that goes with it.
I was born late in 1984 and remember most of this.
I was born in 1992 and can still nod along with quite a lot of the list. Now I have to go and get both the fresh prince rap and you give love a bad name out of my head…
I was 9 in 1980 … and these are years I remember the most!! May I add: those swirly combs – always having one sticking out of your back pocket … or those fat Bonnie Bell lip glosses … or the rolly flavored lip glosses …. a bandana tied around your ankle – the right ankle if you were single/the left if you were taken … or the bandana around your thigh … the barrettes with the ribbons you braided through, which hung with beads at the end …. the roachclip with the feathers … wayfarer sunglasses … the thick belts with your name in metal letters in the metal frame … the rubber bracelets (think Madonna) …. IOU sweatshirts … Member’s Only Jackets … Z Cavaricci’s … shopping at Merry Go ‘Round … Joan Jett … Leather Jackets with fringes … AquaNet …
Those were the days! Thanks for the memories!
#32 He-man and She-Ra together ewwwwwww they were brother and sister
Wow, those hypercolour t-shirts look awesome. i was born in 92 so i only recognised 5 or 6 of these
Then I stuff it all into my TrapperKeeper!
Just over half of these apply to me, born in ‘83.
I think the half i didn’t get are either cause i’m not into them (EG – 21), not a girl (EG – 33) or cause i’m in the UK (EG – 56).
I lol’d though when i WAS still singing the Bon Jovi song, it was more to check that i DID remember the words though. (A)
its kinda sad that i was born in the LATE 90s and i know all thoughs things…BON JOVI ROCKS!!
Great list! 80’s babies will still cry at Purple Rain, remember Tiffani the mall singing girl, we can walk like an Egyptian. We also went to the hardware store to buy o-ring bracelets so we could be like Madonna. We wore wife-beaters under our Forenza v-neck sweaters (that only stayed up on one shoulder). If we had money we wore Benneton sweaters. We watched Dallas and Falcon Crest on Fridays.
I remember watching The Mickey Mouse club and Out of This World… dont forget the Game Genie for your nintendo =D
Ah yes, the Game Genie. Ordered one on eBay a couple years ago. Boy did that bring back some fond memories!
haha. some of this still applies today. and in the 90’s. i was born in 94 and i remembered doing alot of that stuff. lol
wow this list is amazing! it really brought back some great memories. i got to #41 and cracked up because it was so true. thumbs up to the creator.
Found this by accident after typing “big hair” in as search. What a list ! I was born in ‘70 and i remember alot of this stuff. I miss some of the women’s hairstyles ( hence, the search on the ‘net for 80’s themed wallpaper) but some couragous and lovely ladies are starting to go for 80’s inspired big hair again here in Australia – hooray !!! I am not ashamed to say that it is good to see again, and yes ( i confess ) i do miss the colours of the clothes. I actually saw a young woman who got off a tourist bus today and my eyes almost popped out – she looked like she had just stepped out of 1986! It made me feel sooooo weird. So, whether we like it or not – at least some of the 1980’s seems to be coming back in fashion again. Also – saw a new band recently – Duran Duran eat your heart out ! And people laugh at the 1980’s…
Thanks for stopping by accidentally Reado
The 80’s bring back some very fond memories of my childhood so I feel the same as you. Although I think the hairstyles and neon leotards should stay in the 80’s where they belong.
Let me clarify – alot of the hairstyles from the 80’s were a CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY !!! ( Or possibly just a crime against hair ) And you’re right about the neon leotards. Remember girls with those big coloured bangles ? When i was 14 i got three of the coolest items a teenage boy could own – tear drop “mirror” sunglasses, a chrome plated BMX with rear shock absorbers, and a pair of black “Stingrays” to tread my junior high turf with. Combined with various shades of denim, big baggy coloured shirts, high tar cigarettes, and a “flat-top”, this took me from nerd to cool in a very short period. I was given the 1984 ‘Action man’ award in the school magazine for various daring acts of athleticsm and coolness. (read : pretty tame really! – and i’m glad i stopped smoking those things. i think they banned them here years ago) Wow. This list sure has stirred some memories. Thanks cassie.
fresh prince was from the 90s not the 80s sorry if someone already made this statement
This is dumb, most of these apply to kids growing up in the 90s as well
Thanks for this great post. I really love this tv show. Can’t wait for the another episode ! Keep up the awesome work with that
Lmao Ok… I’m 23 Goin On 24 I Don’t Know What Half This Stuff Is I Was A 90’s Kid, But My Wife Is 31 And I Sent Her This… She’s Went Crazy And Now I’m Goin Through A Marathon Watchin The Shows And Listenin To The Music… I Think I’m Losin My Hair Now Too Lol Thanks
the song is “You give love a bad name”, not “shot through the heart”
Hey! =) I was born in the 90’s and I know a lot of these things! I used to watch the cartoons every morning and I dressed(well, mainly my mother dressed me) in those kind of clothes. I’ve also worn the side-ponytail, but that was for a 80’s show, so maybe that doesn’t count…
I was born in ‘92 and can do about 85% of this. damn proud of it too.
Bon Jovi definitely rocks, the best rock and roll band in the planet,~”
Bon Jovi in the 90’s is super popular and can i say the king of rock and roll on those days:`.
