Isn’t “shot through the heart” actually called “You give love a bad name”
Yes “M”, it is “You Give Love A Bad Name” which I clarified back in the 21st comment but most people are familiar with the lyrics and not the actual song name. Either way, they’re both really good songs.
I was born in 1979, so I remember like 95% of these. (And I’m sitting here going “YES! I totally remember that!”)
He-Man and She-Ra (what the hell is a “ra”? In keeping with the theme of pronoun-gender, shouldn’t it have been “She-Woman”?) should NOT have hooked up, because they were brother and sister. I was an avid fan of both shows as a kid (although, being a girl, I liked She-Ra better) and I remember the episode of He-Man which introduced She-Ra, and at the time, she was evil, until she and Prince Adam found out that ohmygod they’re related! And then I think they both defeated whoever the evil guy was that She-Ra used to work for. Or something. It was twenty-some years ago.
Also: Slap bracelets! I used to have one of those. And Fraggle Rock was the best. And Popples! I had a Popple with the manufacturer-given name of Potato Chip.
i was born before that and shot through the heart still goes round my head
Wow! Do I feel old. LOL I still watch SBTB. That’s my dirty little secret.
Hi
I really loved this,I dont know when i grew up really,i was born in 82 and took me a while I guess to grow up,so I grew through the 80s and 90s!This is quite western in its approach, never the less, quite familiar,I grew up in India and Oman during those years.Different cultural perspectives!
Nice page.
Cheers.
I think I just died and went to heaven while reading this… it’s was like “Flashback from the past!” I’m so going to give this link out.
Thanks Robert
I totally remember all of these. The one I had completley forgotten about though was the Oregon Trail! You had to grow up in the 80’s to know that one. I remember every Friday at school was our day to go to the computer lab and we played Oregon trail and also a program where you had to write your own story and you used backrounds and premade characters or objects to fill a book. That was the best day all week for sure.
True it’s all true. Did you do this yourself?
Ahaha! All of those ‘Shot Through the Hearth’ ones really got me so well!
I’m also European, ans most of it is true too
The word at the end of the 1st one should be psych
I got through half the list and I was wondering where the hypercolor shirts where, you totally nailed it.
Thanks stumbleupon
I was born in ‘77. This is a great list, although a tough centered on the female recolections (not that I care). I had the whole Care Bears, My Little Pony, Jem, Strawberry Shortcake, SHE-RA!!! and Rainbow Brite; I read all those Ramona and Judy Blume books, all the hair bands, not just Bon Jovi; I haven’t thought about playing MASH in years! For a long time, I used to type my journals, which I learned from Doogie Howser, MD…Saturday morning cartoons were worth watching…I own all the Golden Girls seasons on DVD…I had Pound Puppies and Cabbage Patch Kids (and the Garbage Pail Kids as well)…NKOTB…yeah, I can still sing the FPOBA theme song…socks scrunched down and Bobby McFerrin…wow, I miss those days…

I almost spit out my tea when I read “Kids Inc.”! I LOVED them!!! I watched, listened to and wished to BE them!! I was just making mixed CD’s and came across Kids Bob and couldn’t help thinking how much better Kids INC was! Now I have to search for them on the net!
thanks for the memories
It’s PSYCH, not SIKE!
priceless.
OMG I feel soooooo old!

• Big, thick, shiny, stylish belts.
• You love bubblegum and still find yourself chewing bubblegum every day.
• You believed you would find “the captain of my heart”
• You own the Breakfast club and pretty in pink because… you watch them once a month.
• Your heart beats faster when your 80 sradio station plays “girl I am going to miss you ” and still wonder why did that HOT, HOT, HOT guy with the beautiful eyes committed suicide.
• You dreamt on dancing dirty with Patrick Swayze

My friend, Chris, and I gave up TV for lent one year. It was way easy until 3pm. That’s when Duck Tales came on followed by JEM- then it was like we were late for the methodone or something.

This list is great….you totally forgot Jem & the Holograms, potatoe head kids, glow worms hehehehe need I go on. anyway totally knew all the the items on the list and knew someone or did most of it myself, and was totally in love with the New Kids. lol
Krista (reply #24); the fact that you just “switch my itunes to shot through the heart”… You were not in the 80s!
and yes, as the rest of you; I loved this list!!!
7. You know that “WHOA” comes from Joey on Blossom.
It came from Joey on “Gimme a Break!”
Wow. I never thought about it, but gods I’m getting OLD!
I AM A BEAUTIFUL CHLID OF THE EIGHTIES, CLASS OF ‘86 AND ALL OF THESE APLIED, BUT I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF WHEN I STARTED SINGING SHOT THROUGH THE HEART TO MYSELF AND YOU KNEW IT. THANKS FOR THE LAUGH.
Wow, I must live in some kind of backwater town because all of those are still popular
It’s funny that event though i was born in the 1990’s, i can agree to more than half of these.
I remember alot of these things and I was born early ninety’s. I feel honoured.
Add you remember the break of Grunge into mainstream. Even though that was 1991 but you would remember it if you were and 80’s kid.
Just so people know, the was smurfette and sassette. 2 girl smurfs. and i love all those cartoons. That was back when cartoons were gooooood!!!!
Wouldn’t you know you grew up in the 80s if…well…if you grew up in the 80s?
You REALLY know your 80s if you corrected the song title.
“You Give Love A Bad Name”
Oh my gosh, me and my sister were just laughing and nodding our heads in agreement the whole time. I’m so sending this to everyone I know who grew up in the 80s.
Oh i know way too many and i really was singing shot through the heart help i am stuck in the eighties !
Oh wait no i am not i am on the interweb !
nice promenade on the path of “oh my god! i remember it!”
this is an inaccurate discription of growing up in the 80’s. half of that stuff went on in the early half of the 90’s.
GREATEST THING EVAR.
I’m still singing “shot through the heart” too lol.
i was born in ‘84 but i still remember heaps of these things
but yeah some were still around in the 90’s, some of these things i still do today…NOT!:p
the song is “You Give Love a Bad Name” not “Shot Through the Heart”
more people know “Shot Through the Heart” since Blake Lewis sung it last year
yes im guilty of the whatchu talkin about lol
